Qingdao Port breaks record again for automated container terminal efficiency
Qingdao Port, a subsidiary of Shandong Port Group, set a world record for the tenth time for its automated container terminal efficiency on Monday, marking a solid performance for the new year.
The third phase of the automated terminal of the Qingdao port, which started operation last week, recorded an average productivity of 60.2 twenty-foot equivalent units per hour in a loading task at 4:10 pm on the first day of the new year, the port operator said.
The newly operated automated terminal, a testament to China's technological prowess, is the country's first indigenously developed facility of its kind. It achieved complete systems and equipment localization, and its infrastructure is powered by 28,000 homegrown components, marking a significant step forward by the nation in attaining core competitiveness in the ports sector.
