Forum held to boost China-EU renewable energy cooperation
Chinese and European renewable energy authorities called for intensified energy cooperation to promote technological innovation, advance industrial development and address climate change at a forum held in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, on Tuesday.
Themed "Strengthen China-Europe Cooperation on Offshore Renewables for a Shared Green Future", the 2023 China-Europe Offshore Renewables Development and Cooperation Forum is jointly organized by the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and the Yancheng government.
More than 300 participants attended the forum, including senior officials from energy authorities and diplomatic missions in China from 12 countries and regions.
Ren Jingdong, deputy director of the National Energy Administration, said that the energy authorities of both sides have established a China-Europe energy technology innovation cooperation platform, which has carried out fruitful exchanges and cooperation.
During the forum, 25 projects were signed with a total amount of 29.48 billion yuan ($4.13 billion), and the forum's organizers and nearly 20 Chinese and European enterprises jointly released the 2023 China-Europe Offshore Renewables Development and Cooperation Forum Yancheng Declaration, which emphasizes the importance of deepening China-Europe cooperation and achieving global climate goals.
