Taiwan consumers enjoy 'Double 11' online shopping festival: spokesperson
BEIJING -- The convenient shopping experience during the "Double 11" online shopping festival, which lasted from late October to mid-November, has been widely praised by Taiwan consumers, a mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Noting that the fervor of the shopping festival had once again swept the island this year, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, told a press conference that apparel and bags -- particularly luggage -- have become bestsellers among Taiwan consumers.
Taiwan compatriots are welcome to share the safe, fast and convenient online shopping environment with those on the mainland, said Zhu, adding that they are also encouraged to explore offline shopping experiences on the mainland.
"We are glad to see that the booming mainland e-commerce market has established a convenient and cost-effective shopping channel for Taiwan compatriots, which also contributes to the cooperation and innovative development of logistics and related businesses across the Strait," Zhu said.
