Macao seeks public consultation on appropriate economic diversification plan
MACAO -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government on Friday started seeking public consultation on the Development Plan for Appropriate Economic Diversification of the Macao SAR (2024-2028), running until Sept 2.
The development plan proposes major tasks and key projects for the period from 2024 to 2028, aiming to facilitate development of new industries using a multi-pronged approach in terms of policy, human resources and financial resources, according to the Macao SAR government.
The plan sets a detailed path for tourism and integrated leisure business, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), modern financial services, high and new technology, the conversion and enhancement of traditional industries, and for the convention and exhibition, sports, commercial and trade industries, said the government.
The plan also closely aligns with the country's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and the development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, focusing on Macao's second five-year plan, and the SAR's "1+4" strategy for appropriate economic diversification, said the SAR government.
During the 30-day consultation period, public sessions will be held. The public are also invited to contribute suggestions and opinions online or via telephone, email, post or fax.
