Canadian enterprises are welcome to explore the Chinese market by participating in the sixth China International Import Expo, said officials at a promotional conference held in Vancouver, Canada on local time May 16.
The conference was attended by about 140 representatives from Canadian business associations, enterprises, and media outlets.
Cong Peiwu, Chinese ambassador to Canada, said at the conference that the CIIE is an important decision made by China to pursue high-level opening-up, and is a major initiative to widen access to the Chinese market for the rest of the world.
He hopes that more Canadian enterprises will tap the Chinese market through the expo and deepen their cooperation with China.
Many Canadian enterprises have actively participated in the past five expos and achieved good results, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau.
He expressed hope that organizations in Canada would continue to attract more outstanding exhibitors for the expo.
David Fung, vice-chair of the Canada China Business Council, said that the CIIE has been widely praised for helping Canadian companies better understand the demands of the Chinese market and fostering their collaborations with Chinese companies.
During the conference, five Canadian enterprises signed up for the sixth CIIE. The Canada International Trade Promotion Society also signed a service agreement for attracting overseas exhibitors to this year's expo.
