President Xi Jinping will put forward a series of proposals on the long-term development of China and the Central Asian countries, and announce multiple pragmatic measures on cooperation between the two sides during the China-Central Asia Summit, a Foreign Ministry official said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a news conference in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, where the summit will be held on Thursday and Friday, Yu Jun, deputy director-general of the ministry's Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, said that Xi, in his keynote speech to the summit, will expound on China's position on the building of a China-Central Asia community with a shared future in the new era.

More than 20 bilateral and multilateral activities will be held during the summit, Yu said. Xi will chair the summit, and he will, together with presidents of five Central Asian countries, attend a ceremony for the signing of cooperation documents after the summit, and they will jointly meet the media, he said.

The leaders will also attend the launching ceremony of the Year of Culture and Art of the Peoples of China and Central Asia and the China-Central Asia Youth Arts Festival, Yu added.

He said that China-Central Asia cooperation targets no third party, and has no intention of competing with other mechanisms.
