China will "fully" promote the research and development of 6G as well as future industries including humanoid robots, the metaverse and quantum technology to better support the building of a modern industrial system this year, according to a top industry regulator on Wednesday.

Jin Zhuanglong, minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at a press conference that the ministry will speed up making an action plan to develop these future industries and will encourage local governments to go for trials.
