The China Area Studies Community was established at Beijing Foreign Studies University on Sunday. Together with multiple universities, the community was set up to promote the development of area studies — the study of geographical, national or cultural regions — and establish area study discipline, knowledge and discourse systems with Chinese characteristics. Wang Dinghua, Party secretary of BFSU, said the community will serve the national development strategy, promote the development of area studies, offer solutions to China's development issues and contribute to China's solutions to global governance.
