Moreno leads Bolivia to 3-1 win over Venezuela in WC qualifier
LA PAZ - Striker Marcelo Moreno scored in each half as Bolivia secured a 3-1 home victory over Venezuela in their FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifier here on Thursday.
Moreno put the hosts ahead in the fifth minute with an angled finish after a Jorge Flores cross from the left wing.
Brescia defender Jhon Chancellor equalized by firing in a low 26th-minute strike before Bolivia regained the lead through a Diego Bejarano header on the hour.
Bejarano then turned provider with a cross that Moreno powerfully nodded past Joel Graterol seven minutes from time.
Moreno, whose club career has included spells at Werder Bremen, Changchun Yatai and Shijiazhuang Ever Bright, among other clubs, has now struck five goals in the current qualifying campaign.
The result at Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz left Bolivia seventh in the 10-team South American zone group with four points while Venezuela dropped to ninth, one point further back.
