BEIJING -- Jonathan Viera will be sidelined after his right knee was injured in Beijing Guoan's 2-0 win over Dalian Pro on Tuesday.
The former Valencia midfielder picked up the injury in the 32nd minute of the Chinese Super League match when he was swept down by Dalian Pro player Wu Wei.
Eight minutes later, he was substituted and sent to hospital for a checkup.
He was found to have sustained ligament and meniscus injuries to his right knee, the Beijing club said.
The Beijing side said they will decide on the Spaniard's recovery plan after the results of his further checkups are available.
