China's road freight volume soars in January

BEIJING -- China's road cargo transport registered steady growth in January 2021, seeing fast expansion of freight volume, data from the Ministry of Transport showed.
In January, road freight volume, which takes up the lion's share in China's total cargo transport, surged 46.7 percent year-on-year to 3.09 billion tons, the ministry said in a statement.
In the same period, the amount of cargo transported by water jumped 21.3 percent year-on-year to 654.14 million tons.
