RIO DE JANEIRO - Argentine manager Jorge Sampaoli is among nine members of Atletico Mineiro's staff and playing squad to test positive for COVID-19, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.
Center-back Gabriel was also diagnosed with the virus, as were seven officials and members of Sampaoli's backroom staff.
All of those infected are either asymptomatic or have only mild symptoms, Atletico said in a statement.
They have been ordered to self isolate and will remain quarantined for at least the next 10 days, in line with Brazil's health protocols.
Atletico Mineiro currently lead the Serie A standings with 12 wins, two draws and six losses, two points clear of second-placed Internacional.
