The release of the Overall Plan for the Construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port has drawn great attention globally. Lucia Pasqualini, consul general of Italy in Guangzhou, said that future cooperation between Italy and China's island province Hainan bears bright prospects.

Chinese authorities released the master plan for the Hainan Free Trade Port on June 1, aiming to build it into a globally influential high-level free trade port by the middle of the century. According to the plan, a free trade port system will be "basically established" in Hainan by 2025 and become "more mature" by 2035.
