The growing number of wild horses has helped raise the country's reputation in protecting wild animals and their environment at home and abroad, the survey said.

Ma Xinping, director of the research center, said Xinjiang's wild horses mainly live in the Mount Karamely Natural Reserve.

"The average life span of a wild horse is about 30 years," Ma said.
