"When I was informed that my work was selected as the national gift, I was very excited and I couldn't help crying. But it was difficult to complete ten pieces in the required time." To achieve that, Chen went to many places to look for vase bases and cooperated with veteran craftsmen, and did every detailed part by herself.
"Finally, I picked 10 perfect vases out of 100. During the creation course of the national gift, I cried many times, mostly because of feeling grateful for and touched by the assistance from my team members and advisers," she added.
