Xiamen in eastern Fujian province was listed as one of the 10 best leisure cities in China, according to the 2018-2019 China leisure development report released on Aug 5.

The report was jointly issued by the National Academy of Economic Strategy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the Tourism Research Center at CASS and the Social Science Academy Press (China).

The report evaluated 290 cities from six aspects: city image and reputation, leisure space and environment, leisure economy and industry, leisure facilities and services, leisure life and consumption and tourist focus.

In recent years Xiamen has been speeding up its transformation as a regional tourism city, expanding its leisure tourism space and improving its tourism services.

Based on the report's evaluation, Xiamen ranked 7th among the cities.
