China to honor hard-working role models
BEIJING - China will honor 200 people for their hard work in a campaign to promote the spirit of striving.
It is part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
According to a circular issued by central authorities, the 200 role models will be selected from grassroots levels in various fields across the country over the past 70 years.
They can be primary-level Party cadres, workers, farmers, intellectuals, soldiers, and police officers, among others, who contributed to the country's economic, political, cultural, social and ecological advancement, the circular says.
The selection will go through a process of recommendation, public voting, public verification and endorsement, followed by a national campaign to promote the role models whose stories reflect the extraordinary course and great achievements of the country.
