Top seed Zhang Shuai advances into 2nd round at Kunming Tennis Open

KUNMING - Top seed Zhang Shuai came from one set down to defeat Bulgarian Elisesa Kostova to reach the women's singles second round of the Kunming Tennis Open here on Tuesday.
The 2019 Aussie Open doubles winner was one of the stars to watch at the tournament. After losing the first set 6-4, the current world No 42 adjusted her form in time to sweep the next two 6-2, 6-1, blocking her Bulgarian opponent from the last 16.
It was also the season's first victory on clay court for the 30-year-old local star.
In the other games of the day, China's Duan Yingying lost to seventh-seeded Danielle Lao of the United States 6-1, 6-2. Han Xinyun of China was eliminated by another American player Ashley Kratzer 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.
