Beijing publishes revised flood control emergency plan
The Beijing municipal government published its revised version of the flood control emergency plan on Friday, which cleared responsibilities of involved municipal departments and stressed public supervision.
Liu Bin, spokesman for the Beijing Flood Control and Drought Relief Office, told a news conference that the revised plan has improved in practicability and become more workable.
"The plan has completed the overall structure of governmental authorities that are related to flood control and requires that the county and street-level governments should be equipped with flood control organizations," he said.
It also stresses that authorities should strengthen the monitoring of key areas with geological disaster possibilities.
"We will enhance supervision and check for potential risks," Liu added.
Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing, held the first municipal-level flood control conference on Tuesday.
